The images of the glacier were taken during a boat tour in Alaska's Kenai Fjords National Park.
The opportunity was unique for the crews of an excursion cruise ship from Alaska (USA). They were able to film how a huge chunk of ice fell dramatically into the water from a glacier. The chunk of ice was as tall as a five-story building, so its fall into the sea caused a strong wave.
The incident occurred on June 13 at the Aialik glacier in the Kenai Fjords National Park.
The ship's crew told tourists that being able to see the detachment of such a large piece of ice with their own eyes is not something that happens every day.
