Pangolins are one of the most threatened animals on Earth, although most people have never heard of them.
Not only are pangolins being poached at an alarming rate (often by poachers using roads built by illegal logging), but their greedy habitats are rapidly being destroyed by corporate greed.
The critically endangered pangolin Sunda depends on its home in the Indonesian rainforest, but that is being systematically destroyed for the production of Conflict Palm Oil, paper pulp and fiber used in synthetic clothing.
Lisa Hywood recounts the dramatic situation of this species:
The ABSOLUTE Pangolin
The scientific team that announced on February 7 of this year that the new coronavirus had passed from bats to people through a pangolin has retracted.
The initial conclusion was that a coronavirus found in a pangolin had a genome 99% the same as the coronavirus that causes Covid-19 disease.
But the result was wrong, a new analysis of their data has revealed that the equivalence between the genomes is around 90%, insufficient percentage to affirm that a pangolin was the cause of the origin of the epidemic.
