This sembthon is the beginning to meet Colombia's goal of planting 180 million trees before the end of 2022.
It is a big goal and it takes a great effort from the population and institutions to make it possible. At the moment, three seedlings have already been confirmed for this year. The first will be on March 21 and 22, 2020 with the slogan#BecauseSeedingNosUne.

In this first stage, 11 Colombian departments will be added: Antioquia, Boyacá, Santander, Cundinamarca, Tolima, Valle, Huila, Norte de Santander, Chocó, Amazonas and Cauca. In these regions they were selected because they are the ones identified as the areas that have suffered the most from deforestation and inappropriate land use.
With this initiative, it is sought that hydrographic basins can be recovered and plant corridors are formed where ecosystems can strengthen the life of flora and fauna.
The sembratón will be led by experts who will take care of the planning to ensure that the 5 million planted trees flourish. This is important because it will reduce two of the most common mistakes in reforestation projects: guaranteeing the number of trees necessary for planting and corresponding to the native species of each region, avoiding planting invasive plants that in the future become in pests that are difficult to eradicate and that destroy the local region.
