What does it take to make a DIY hanging garden with recycled material? The materials to be recovered include hydraulic derivation pipes with a diameter sufficient to accommodate plants, even better if pipes with a 45 ° connection. You will need other materials such as:

  • water-based enamel for exteriors
  • flat tip brush
  • fixative fat
  • very tight mesh garden wire mesh
  • scissors
  • topsoil
  • seedlings
  • electrician cable ties

For this work bycreative recyclingit would be better to start with hydraulic branch pipes connected at 45 °. These pipes can be fitted together and, being all equipped with a fitting, they can easily accommodate plants. If you have classic plastic pipes, cut them in half and follow the instructions given in the case of the gutter. The hydraulic hose with 45 ° fitting is shown in the photo below.

First, paint the 45 ° fitting tube in the color of your choice and let the paint dry.

Fit the tubes together but before stacking them, sprinkle the internal gasket with grease in order to better secure the tubes.

Stack all the tubes on top of each other in order to create the column that will form the basis of yours DIY vertical garden. Place the fitting in the most suitable position to keep the column stable.

At this point, cut a section of the fine mesh wire mesh, wrap it around itself, and insert it into the main tube of your column. The net will be used to block the soil that you will add to the various fittings.

Now add the soil in each fitting and also in the top hole. The soil will not escape life because you have previously inserted the metal mesh. In each fitting, insert the flowering plants to grow into yours roof garden.

With electrician cable ties, anchor yours DIY vertical garden to the balcony railing or other supports.

If the plumbing pipes are closed, you can section them horizontally in order to obtain two concave halves to use as gutters, or, alternatively, you can drill them and use them as shown in the image above.
