How to mount a lockshield and valves: instructions for assembling a complete radiator to heat the house. The use of the fitting kits and instructions for assembling the valves and radiators.
How to mount a radiator in the house? Generally, when buying aradiatorfor domestic heating, wall fixings are also included in the radiator package. The purchase package, however, does not include the valves and fittings with the pre-existing heating system. In case ofreplacementof aholder, it will not be necessary to purchase any kit of fittings because you can use the pre-existing ones.

Proceed with the disassembly of the wall lockshield to be replaced. Open the package of the new onedentor and valvesand proceed as described below:
1) Remove the protective caps located at the ends of the radiator and apply them at the top where you will notice a single perforated terminal, this is the breather valve.
2) In the lower part of the radiator, (there is a hole for each terminal) you will have to apply thedententorand thevalve, both angled or, in the case of a more complex radiator, you will apply the angled lockshield with thermostatic valve (with or without thermostatic head).
3) Disassemble the two elements on the terminal to screw the connection with the radiator seat.
4) Each fitting has ao-ringof gasket and fits tightly to the terminal using a spanner. Typically, you just need to use a hex key. The de longhi radiators use a 13 mm hex wrench.
5) Take the valve showing the thread on one side and screw it to the fitting collar. Tighten the valve with an appropriately sized open-end wrench or parrot.
How to replace the holder and valves of a radiator
Thevalvesand theholderof aradiatorthey are not components that we use often, for this reason the limestone of the passing water tends to create encrustations and ruin thegasket. In the long term, incrustations and damaged gaskets can give rise to small water leaks and thus trigger the need forreplace valves and holder.
1) Turn off the water
For thereplacementof theholder and valveit is necessary to close the corresponding holders on the distribution manifold so as to interrupt the flow of water in the heating circuit. If you don't know how to act on the individualradiator, turn off the boiler and bleed the radiators to eliminate water from the entire heating circuit. 2) Disassembly of the lockshield or valve
With a roller wrench, loosen the nut located on the side of the radiator (attention, the radiator nut, the one placed between the holder and the radiator and not between the pipe and the holder!). At this point you just have to gently remove the holder (or thevalve).
3) Unscrew the nut
Insert an Allen key into the fitting that secures the nut on the side of the radiator and unscrew. Be careful to unscrew the nut and not the radiator cap.
Since you have disassembled the entire holder, take the opportunity to remove any encrustations from the thread of the nut and above all clean the pipe that protrudes from the wall. If you have an old system made with copper pipes, we recommend cleaning the end of the pipe with very fine sandpaper (500 grain).
5) Replace the holder, the assembly
First, insert the new gasket to be replaced (if you had previously removed it). Reinsert the nut in the correct direction. Again, with the Allen key, screw the fitting with a minimum of three turns.
The fitting has a long thread, you don't have to use it all: this is used to align and adjust the valve or lockshield to the pipe that protrudes from the wall.
Make sure the valves and lockshield are closed. Hand tighten the nut belonging to the side of the pipe that protrudes from the wall. Stop at the slightest hint of resistance without forcing.
Remember that the correct assembly sequence requires the use of internal components, in order: gasket, washer, pipe clamp.
Screw the nut on the side of the radiator by hand and tighten with the roller wrench. Finally, open the valve and holder and put the water back into the circuitradiator.
